Many transport companies in the UAE price jobs based on market pressure, competitor rate, or customer demand. The problem is simple. If the company does not know the real trip cost, it may win the job but still lose money.
To price transport jobs correctly, the company must include all major cost elements, not only fuel. A proper transport price should consider fuel, driver salary, tyres, maintenance, registration, insurance, depreciation, Salik, waiting time, and empty return kilometres.
For example, a trip from Dubai to Abu Dhabi may look profitable if you only check diesel cost. But once you add Salik, vehicle wear, idle time, and driver cost, the actual cost may be much higher than expected.
A better pricing method is:
Transport Price = Total Operating Cost + Overhead Allocation + Profit Margin
This gives the business a more reliable base before negotiation. It also helps separate profitable customers from loss-making customers.
Good pricing is not only about charging more. It is about knowing the minimum safe rate and making sure every trip contributes to profit.
